» Andipatti
An important center of Tamilian culture, Andipatti is made up of a number of
small hamlets all of which are renowned for their handicrafts and handlooms.
» Arulmigu Balasubramanya Temple
Constructed by King Rajendra Chola, this beautiful temple is dedicated to
Lord Muruga and is considered to be one of the most respected shrines in
Tamil Nadu. The shrine is home to an idol or vighraha of Lord Muruga, which
is a six-headed idol, accompanied by the Lord’s consorts.
» Vaigai Dam
Built across the majestic River Vaigai near Andipatti, the dam with a height
of 111 feet can store 71 feet of water. It is 7 kms from Andipatti, 14 kms
from Theni and 70 kms from Madurai. This dam was opened on January 21,
1959.The dam is unique for the sylvan garden around it. The stillness and
quiet are soothing to the mind. The garden deserves the surname "Little
Brindavan". It is a popular picnic spot for the local population,
particularly school children. There is a separate play area for the Tourist.
» Vellappar Temple, Mavoothu
Located 20 kms away from Andipatti, this beautiful temple is home to
vigrahas or idols of Lord Vinayaka and Saptakannikas, which make it one of
the holiest shrines of the region. A large number of devotees come to the
temple each day which is also the site of a spring that is believed to have
curative powers and can cure even the most incurable diseases.

By Air : The nearest airport to Theni is at Madurai.
By Rail : A number of railway tracks link Theni to most of the cities and
regions of Tamil Nadu. Theni is also the main route for the tourists
traveling from Madurai to Kochi via Bodinayakanur and Munnar and from
Madurai to the Thekkadi wildlife sanctuary.
By Road : Theni is well-connected to a number of neighboring cities by an
efficient network of roads. The roads connecting Theni are well-maintained
and comfortable which help in adding an extra dash of fun if you are
