Nanded station is 277 km from Aurangabad on Manmad/ Aurangabad/ Jalna-Kachiguda/ Hyderabad branch railway. Reach 63 km distant Jalna in 2-hr from Aurangabad by 3-25, 6-30, 7-35, 16-15, 21-10 passenger and avail of 8-15, 10-20, 12-25 passenger or 5-15 Ellora Exp, 9-40 Jalna-Nizamabad Exp, 19-10 Jalna-Nizamabad-Marathawada Exp, 23-20 Bombay-Secunderabad-Ajahta Exp to reach Nanded in 4 1/2 hr via Parbani/Purna. Distance is 174 km? Bombay-Secunderabad Exp comes from Bombay and goes via Manmad/ Aurangabad/ Jalna. From Nanded Manmad is 350 km, Bombay 611, Purna 30, Kachiguda 280 km. Trains ply to Jaipur, Ajmer, Secunderabad from Nanded. Buses also ply along this route. Buses come from 64 km distant Ayudh to district head-quarters Nanded. Vayudoot also connects Bombay-Aurangabad with Nanded.   Nanded is a sacred Sikh Pilgrimage beside Godavari river glorified with the memory of 10th and last Sikh Guru Govind Singh. Son of 9th Sikh Guru Tegbahadur, Govind Singh on the way to his Deccan tour at the age of 41, (born on December 26, 1666 at Patna) took shelter at Madho Das's Nanded residence. Later on receiving initiation in Khalsa religion Madho Das became disciple of Guru. Henceforth Guru spent last years of his life here. He was stabbed by a Pathan sent by Sirhind's Nawab Wajir Khan named Gul Khan on 2nd October, 1708 and demised 5 days later on. Granthsahib- the hand written document of immortal teachings of 10 Gurus dictated by dying Guru is consi­dered eternal guide to Sikh religion. Punjab-keshri Ranjit Singh founded Sacchakhand Gurudwara made of decorated white marble in 1837 on the holy cemetary, l 1/2 km from rly stn. This Sacchakhand Srihuzur Abchalnagar Sahib ■ is a holy Sikh pilgrim place-one of the main five. Hola festival on the day after Holi is highly enjoyable   Besides there are another 7 Gurudwaras at Nanded- Naginaghat Sahib, Hiraghat Sahib, Sangat Sahib, Shikarghat Sahib. Luxury buses cover these places in 4 hr trip for Rs 10 from Sacchakhand. You can stay and have your meals in any of these Gurudwaras. However the extensive arrangements of 300 plus-roomed Yatri Nivas at Sacchakhand is quite satisfactory. Marv/ari Dharamshala at Bhujiabad also is popular to tourists. There are also a few dharamshalas and hotels like Hotel J K, Apsara, Deepak, Rajesh and other private hotels at Nanded. On the way there are Hotel Amber and many other private hotels at Jalna.   Nanded has a loftier background than its present fame as a Sikh holy place. In remote past Hindu god Varuna performed religious sacrifice at this holy place. That gave birth to great sage Vrigu from Brahma's heart. Chyavan is son of Vrigu-Puloma and many other sages were born here in course of time. This place was named Naodandi in those days. Nanded is a transformation of Naodandi. Past have been forgotten along. with the original name. You can go to Mahur, birth-place of Sridattatreya, by bus from Nanded. There are several temples and an old fort here.
