Aizawl
The state capital of
Mizoram, home to important government offices, the State Assembly and Civil
Secretariat, Aizawl is one of the most important cities of
the Northeast. Perched on high hills, it abounds in natural beauty with an

in Aizawl is the Bara Bazar, the shopping hub for clothes,
accessories and any other household or commercial goods. Here, you will see
women clad in colourful puanchei (traditional attire of Mizo women) standing
behind stalls selling anything from clothes to vegetables. A must visit is
the Luangmual Handicrafts Centre, where you can buy hand-made goods
such as 'khumbeu', the ceremonial bamboo hat made of waterproof 'hnahthial'
leaves. The Mizoram State Museum at Mc Donald Hill is another main
attraction, as is the Mini Zoo. Among scenic outdoors attractions are

The food habits here are very basic. Most of the food is cooked in less oil, if none at all. Bamboo is an important ingredient in all Mizo food. Most people are non-vegetarians here and fish and meat are a part of almost every meal.
